To Vienna, with Love

Dear Vienna,

Where shall I begin, because my emotions are entangled about you. I have read so much about you that it was a dream to visit there one day and probably alone. Some wishes do come true, as I met you on my first Solo Trip to Europe.

Hofburg Palace

I sometimes find cities a bit overwhelming with all the hustle-bustle, but Vienna, you were so peaceful. The European architecture, the brick lanes, the beautiful parks, art installations, ohh such glorious days those were.

Vienna, if you ask me what I loved most about you, I would say the Light rails. Cute, red and fast light rails and I loved traveling in them. However, I really love a lot of other things about you too. Hofburg Palace became my favorite spot in the city and I visited almost daily. Such a gorgeous palace, in the middle of the city and those royal carriages. It is like I was transported to another time altogether.

Vienna, thank you for the experience. Thank you for the clean and beautiful and historic city that you are. Hours roaming through those lanes, watching the horse carriages, those intricate fountains, those spectacular churches made me feel so content inside.

The warmth I received at every place I visited. Cafe Central was so high on my list and I never expected such wonderful hospitality there. I occupied one table alone and even though some other tourists from the queue gave me 'not so pleasant' look, the people were awesome. From recommending me the dishes and desserts, I was absolutely overwhelmed.

I used to wait for the lights to be up in the Hofburg palace and surrounding areas in the evening. Kohl market turned into such a magical place every evening after the lights turned on.

Churches in Europe are always pretty. However, the churches in Vienna will remain special. Votivkirche, the amazing and huge Gothic church was straight from the fairytale. Yet, it looked alone. Karlskirche on other hand was warm and breathtaking from inside. Stephansdom looks so misfit in that location but yet, it fits somehow. The Assisi church looked straight out of Harry Potter movies.

The beautiful Belvedere Palace, The view panoramic view from Gloriette in Schonbrunn Palace, the quirky and colorful Hudertwasser Haus, and my favorite spot, the picturesque Hofburg palace, Vienna, you offered me more than I have hoped for.

Gloriette

I was lost for last many months. Roaming through the brick lanes, exploring new places on my own, I found myself back, not completely yet, but the process has started.

Vienna, thank you for being so unbearably pretty. One day, I will come back to you, holding hands of someone special and I will take him to the places that made me feel with such joy.

Love,
